So I myself enjoy great coffee and get super excited when I find a great coffee shop so I thought I'd share with everyone my top 3 favourites in Sydney;
So starting with number 3 on my list is Double Roasters in Marrikville,
This little cafe was started by a few guys who were just super passionate about good coffee, and it lives up to all expectations, they also roast their own coffee on site and is available to purchase.Next up is number 2; Gusto Espresso Bar in Bondi Junction
I love these guys, not only do they fix my work coffee cravings with a perfect coffee but theyre super nice, remembering my name and order from day one. If youre ever in Bondi Junction I definitely suggest you give them a try.
And finally coming in at my favourite coffee shop in sydney number 1 is; Mecca Espresso on Harris Street in Ultimo
These guys LOVE coffee, they live it and breathe it. They have a continually changing single origin menu to choose from and theyre happy to tell you all about their latest options. They also bag up their single origin stuff and sell it too, as a regular customer I can vouch for the quality. Theyre just down from the ABC building which is right near central station, for anyone who appreciates great coffee, this place is a must.

3. Gently shake the filter by hand and close the lid. Remember to use light pressure, strong pressure cause clogged, coffee will flow out quickly and not enought concentration. You may not need to pour boiling water over the lid, you can gently pour boiling water directly into the coffee powder in the filter.

The difference between a latte and a cappuccino
To enhance the appeal and make things stimulant drinks with this wonderful being boring, the Italians have invented many different types of drinks, including great and more popular is the hot item , Cappuccino or Latte .... So what is the difference between the two drinks!? Cappuccino and Latte is a delicious beverage with ingredients and raw materials is the same, including the first one is perfect Espresso coffee next to the milk was heated by steam with a minimum temperature 600C and 700C from the highest coffee makers and finally the milk foam, a foam things can not be so impeccably smooth, aromatic and juicy in the mouth. So where is the difference!?
For Cappuccino: For this dish hot drink first thing we need is a proper cup size, the cup mouth must be thick to keep the coffee hot for a long time. Separation used to have a capacity of 150 - 180ml. The latter is the most important component of this drink is "milk powder" aka Thick Foam to 2 - 3 cm and the split ratio Cappuccino little milk is about 90ml 180ml cup if using. Approximately 45 - 60ml milk 150ml hot cup if using. Cappuccino is traditionally flavored with cocoa or chocolate is sprinkled bartenders thick foam and fat that.
For Latte: Cappuccino Just like we need to have a cup of thick and mouth must have a capacity of 200 - 250 ml or more than 300ml. Foam Latte milk only from 0.5 to 1 cm thick is called "Crème" and hot milk twice Cappuccino. And for Latte coffee bartenders usually make one or more art forms and new Latte shake only the more sophisticated form there.
So when you see the Cappuccino drink caffeine Latte lot darker and greasy taste of really thick foam stuff anymore. And Latte while enjoying this drink is almost just enjoy the milk and a little crème layer of fat, this drink a lot less of caffeine.

10 Fun facts about coffee !!!
10 Fun facts about
coffee !!!
Discovered by a Goat
Yup you heard right
coffee was first discovered by a goat! More specifically a young goat herder by
the name of Kaldi in the 9th-century. He noticed his goats acting
strange when they ate the cherries from the coffee tree so he tried it for
himself. This story does not show up in writings until the
16th-century but I like the story and it sounds very plausible.
Isn’t just at Starbucks
In today’s pop coffee
culture the brand Starbucks has become synonymous with the word coffee in many
circles and has become iconic in some peoples mind to the point of insanity.
Maybe I am being a little over dramatic but the fact is that some of the best
coffee I have ever tasted in my life comes from small coffee roasters
that you may have never heard of in your life. So with that in mind
the next time you’re looking for coffee in an area you are not familiar with
try searching the word ‘coffee’ on your smart phone map instead of the brand
‘Starbucks’.
Light has more Caffeine than Dark
Contrary to popular
belief light roast coffee actually has more caffeine than dark roast coffee. The
reason for this is that the longer coffee is roasted the more caffeine cooked
out of the bean. I think of it like cooking with wine or alcohol. A
good example of this is fondue.
Espresso is NOT a Bean
Espresso is not
referring to a particular type of bean, it is a drink. More
specifically it is a type of coffee brewing method. I think a lot of the
misconception surrounding espresso developed with products like chocolate coffee
espresso beans and espresso blend coffees. People would see those labels and
come to the conclusion that espresso was a bean when it reality it’s just
marketing.
Comes from a Cherry
Coffee comes from a
tree or bush that bears cherry fruit. The coffee bean is the seed that resides
within the cherry. If the coffee itself wasn’t such a valuable and tasty
commodity I think we would see coffee cherries in the grocery store. The coffee
cherrie’s taste is one of a very delicious tart fruit that some describe as
light, honey, sweet, peachy and watermelon.
It was Illegal
Coffee was declared
illegal 3 times by 3 different cultures. The first was in Mecca
during the 16th century and the prohibition was lifted after 30 years of debate
among scholars and jurists. The second was Charles the II in Europe banning
coffee houses trying to quell the ongoing rebellion yet it backfired and was never
enforced. (People need their coffee!) The third was Fredrick the Great who
banned the beverage in Germany in 1677 because he were concerned with the
economic implications of money leaving the country on this new popular
beverage. (There are many other examples of religions prohibiting coffee
consumption not mentioned here, that still go on today.)
Over 50 Species
There are over 50
species of coffee world wide. Though only 2, arabica and robusta, are
commonly used in commercial coffee production. We have tasted many of the
different varieties here at Coffee Cup News and suggest that you try the
different varietals and species whenever you get the chance.
500 Billion Cups Drunk
Over 500 Billion Cups
of coffee are drunk each yearand over half of those are drunk at breakfast.
(or should I say for breakfast?)
Fuel Source
Coffee can actually be
used to fuel a car. Though maybe not very efficiently at the moment it is nice
to know that there is an alternative out there that can not only fuel our
bodies but our vehicles too. Here is some info on the coffee fuel test car.
Second Most Traded Commodity
Coffee is the second
most traded commodity in the world second to only oil and now that we
know it can be used as a source of fuel it probably won’t be to long until it’s
number 1

Vietnamese Coffee : a special style of making a cup coffee
Vietnamese Coffee
Vietnamese Coffee is as much fun to make as it is to watch. A real treat, especially for those who enjoy their coffee strong and sweet.
What is a Vietnamese Filter?
A Vietnamese filter is a small coffee pot. It looks like a hat and sits upon the top of a coffee cup. Inside is a chamber for coffee and room for hot water. It is very basic and simple, and works.
What do I need?
A Vietnamese filter, coffee (optionally with chicory), and condensed milk. Condensed milk typically contains sugar and is heat processed with steam. Steamed milk has different physics from non-steamed milk and tastes better when used in coffee (ask any cappuccino drinker).
Step 1: Put about 1/3 of an inch of condensed milk in the bottom of a coffee cup. I prefer a glass cup since this is cool to watch! If you store the condensed milk in the refrigerator, it will get very thick but still work fine, and your coffee will not be as hot.

Add milk
Step 2: Open the device and unscrew to remove the filter's top screen.

Vietnamese Coffee Filter
Step 3: Place three rounded teaspoons of coffee with chicory OR three and a half rounded teaspoons of coffee into the device. Replace the screen and turn it until it starts to get snug. This takes a bit of practice but note, it should not be "tight" but snug.

Add Coffee
Step 4: Place the filter on top of the coffee cup. Pour hot water into the device until it is about 1/4 full. Wait 20 seconds (yes, look at the clock). If all the water flows through in the time, you need to tighten the filter more.

Pour Hot Water
Step 5: Unscrew the filter two complete turns. If it is too tight, you can typically use a quarter as a screw driver. Only loosen it two turns (but not less, either!).

Setup Filter
Step 6: Fill the filter with hot water. Place the cover on and wait. Typically about 5 minutes. The water should notstream through, it should drip.

Coffee Brewing In Progress
Step 7: When the dripping stops (i.e., all the water has passed through the filter), carefully remove the device, set aside, and start to enjoy. Personally, I stir up all the condensed milk, others leave it for the end.

Arabica Wild Civet - The World’s Most Exotic Coffee
Kopi Luwak is a rare and exotic coffee produced from the finest
ARABICA beans and the WILD Luwak (Asian Palm Civet, also
known as Paradoxurus Hermaphroditus), all the way from the
mountains of central Aceh in Sumatra Island. Since the seventeenth
century when Arabica beans began to be widely cultivated, Kopi Luwak
has enjoyed an international reputation for its superior quality and its
special flavor. The Sumatra island is also the home of Luwak, the certain
creatures that also could be found in Java, Bali, and Sulawesi in
the Indonesian Archipelago.
Kopi Luwak is made from coffee beans that have been eaten by a small
tree-dwelling animal, the Asian Palm Civet. Ripe red coffee cherries are
one of the favorite foods of civet, or luwak, as it is called in Indonesian.
The Luwak consumes the cherries, fermented in its digestive system
where a unique combination of stomach enzymes break down the protein
that give coffee its bitter taste. The inner beans are intactly passed, still
encased in their protective hulls, then collected, thoroughly cleaned,
sun-dried and lightly roasted to preserve their complex
distinct flavors and aromas.

Breville BES860 Fresca Espresso Machine Review
Breville BES860 Fresca Espresso Machine Review
For a first post I thought I'd give a quick review of my own coffee machine which I love and adore in the hope to inspire others to also give homemade coffee a re-vamp. So my very generous friends banded together and bought me the Breville BES860 Fresca Espresso Machine for my birthday last year as they all knew how much I love coffee but I'm far too fussy to drink instant coffee. Id happily give this machine an 8.5/10 maybe even a 9. It's basically an all in one machine, with an inbuilt conical burr grinder with changeable grind size and amount settings, as well as a steam wand for frothing and heating milk. Once you get the hang of it, it makes a very good coffee and it's pretty user friendly. The only downside I feel comes with the machine is it does unfortunately make quite a bit of noise and if you're a morning coffee drinker you may want to warn the neighbours that it is in fact a coffee machine they can hear and not a jackhammer. The noise is to be expected with the pressures the machine pushes the water through at and I find its worth the end product. The Breville allows me to try knew beans all the time from all around the world right in the comfort of my own home. It will set you back around 500-600 dollars so it is for the more seriously coffee makers out there but it is by no means top of the line. If there is anyone looking into a good starting out machine I would highly recommend this to all.Happy Coffee Drinking

Passiona - A taste of Trung Nguyen's coffee
A rare and unique coffee, the low-caffeine Passiona is NOT "decaffeinated". That means no chemical processes, and no loss of flavor. Passiona has about 35% of the normal caffeine, which means it is actually comparable to many so-called "decaf" coffees, or about the level of black tea. This is accomplished not by artificially removing the caffeine, but by cultivating varieties of coffee that simply grow with less caffeine in them.
The key component is the Chari (Excelsa) bean, a rarely-grown coffee that is difficult to harvest and process, but contains very little caffeine. The Chari is then blended with fine Arabicas to give added smoothness and richness to the flavor, and the result is one of the most popular blends.
The Passiona has a stunningly rich and nutty/chocolaty taste that warms the palette and ends on a sweet note, with light elements of fruit. It's a great coffee and it's superb iced as well. When you consider that coffee beans soaked in methyl chloride solution can be labeled "all natural decaf" these days, you appreciate the fact that Passiona has NOT been "de-caffed". It's got all the flavor and none of the chemicals.
The Passiona is best brewed at a level tablespoon per cup. It works well in home drip machines, cone-shaped preferred, and French Press. The Passiona survives a variety of brewing temperatures and methods to deliver unique taste, usually brewed at low temperatures, and even cold-brewed for iced coffee.
Cut your caffeine and find a new favorite coffee taste!
